Queens, NY Slate Property Group and Grobman-Gross Properties broke ground on their 166-unit mixed-use project at 69-65 Yellowstone Blvd. Slate and Grobman-Gross’ new development will include 50 affordable apartments and 186 parking spaces across 210,000 s/f in the Forest Hills neighborhood.
The Aufgang Architects-designed building, composed of brick and a large green vertical wall, includes 50,000 s/f of retail space on the cellar and ground floors. 69-65 Yellowstone Blvd. will also feature a large, landscaped common outdoor recreation space on the third floor and rooftop and multiple terraces on each floor for personal outdoor space to tenants. The project is slated for completion in 2023.
At the former site of Key Food supermarket, the additional retail space will support Queens and the surrounding Forest Hills community. It will also draw economic activity and construction jobs.
The partnership between Grobman-Gross and Slate Properties was brokered by Patrick Mazza and Dan Panitz of WRC Brokerage Inc.

“After so many years to secure new zoning and promote the creation of ‘The Forest Hills Business District,’ to select a wonderful Joint Venture Partner with the Slate Property Group and to ultimately develop The Yellowstone project on the corner of Queens & Yellowstone Boulevard, our 73-year Gross and Grobman family partnership will certainly have a proud moment as this decade effort comes to life,” said Ira Gross, Executive Vice President of Dan’s Supreme Supermarkets. “This project will do so much good for the local community who we have worked with for the past 30 years.”
