In the past year, what project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?
I appeared in front of the Appellate Division, First Department for the first time and argued the reasons why the Supreme Court’s decision should be affirmed in a Labor Law matter. Although I was extremely nervous arguing virtually in front of the Justices and 30 other attorneys, I gained valuable insight as to which points to focus on in future motions and briefs.
What books or social media influencers would you recommend to other women?
I recommend the following books: “Bossypants” by Tina Fey, “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, and “Becoming” by Michelle Obama.
Why should women consider a career in commercial real estate and related services?
There are numerous opportunities for women to succeed in these areas. Specifically, these fields allow women to be creative and to introduce new ideas. Further, there are plenty of organizations that are oriented toward mentoring women in commercial real estate and construction.
How have you adapted and changed in the last 12 months?
The last 12 months have taught me the true definition of “work-life balance.” In addition, I gained a deeper knowledge of my clients, insurance adjusters, and colleagues as we shared our experiences throughout the pandemic.
Women have made significant progress in the last year towards equality in the workplace. How do you advocate for your fellow women in real estate?
I am working with our team to create women’s advocacy and support roundtables for clients and colleagues. The idea is to facilitate peer-to-peer discussions about the issues facing women, and working together to find solutions or common ground.
