Jericho, NY According to Engel Burman, Nicholas Cappadora, Esq., joined the company as director of land use and zoning entitlements and associate general counsel.
In this position, he will be responsible for analyzing and navigating approval processes for projects from due diligence through closing. As part of the in-house counsel team, he will work directly with Engel Burman’s principals and general counsel on all legal matters.
Cappadora joins Engel Burman from Sahn Ward, PLLC, where he was a partner.
Raised on Long Island, Cappadora has developed a strong professional reputation concentrating in the areas of land use and zoning, real estate transactions and municipal law, among others.
Cappadora has been named a New York Metro “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. In 2020, he received the Leadership in Law Award from Long Island Business News. A frequent writer, Cappadora has published numerous articles in the Nassau Lawyer, on topics ranging from the importance of transit-oriented development, to best practices for presenting variance applications and for resolving boundary line disputes. Cappadora is also an active participant and member of the New York State and the Nassau County Bar Associations.

Cappadora received his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University School of Liberal Arts and Science, where he graduated cum laude. While attending law school he interned for Nassau County Supreme Court justice Anthony Parga. He also participated in the LIREG at Work Program, where he shadowed prominent leaders in the Long Island real estate industry.
