USGBC-LI celebrated the summer season and recognized the hard work of its dedicated team of volunteers at its first-annual clam bake, held on August 21 at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville. Chapter members and their guests enjoyed clams, lobster, and other delicacies along with the relaxing rhythms of a steel drum band, while watching a golden sunset over Long Island Sound at the upscale beachside venue.
During the event, members of each committee were awarded a certificate acknowledging their contributions to the chapter's growth and success in the past year.
"Our members are very dedicated to the mission of USGBC and to our chapter. This is our small way of saying thanks for all the hard work they have put in over the past year.
"It was a relaxing evening for everyone to sit back and enjoy," said Michael Gianchetta, Jr., the co-chair of the membership committee, which organized the event.
The sponsors of the event included The Workplace Group, The Amerisc Corp., Kohler, and Waldner's Business Environments.
"We are grateful to all of our sponsors who made this event such a great success. It is only with their support that we are able to continue to provide the wealth of programs and events that make USGBC-LI such a valuable organization," said Russ Eisenberg, the sponsorship committee chair.
The clam bake also included a brief presentation by Gary Anzalone and Art Desin, the chapter's chairman and vice-chair, respectively, about USGBC-LI and its upcoming events, including its second-annual gala, to be held next March.
The chapter hopes to replicate the success of the clam bake next summer.
