The NYSCAR Board of Governors met via Zoom on June 8th. This board meeting was due to take place at the Annual Conference which unfortunately was cancelled due to COVID-19. At this point, we have secured the dates of June 7-9, 2021 at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona for the conference next year. It is our hope that we will be able to attend the conference in person, but we will monitor the situation as time progresses and keep you informed.
I am pleased to report that NYSCAR
is donating $1,000 to the Central NY Veterans Outreach Center and $1,000 to Foodlink. The Veteran’s Center provides numerous services including case management, housing, transportation and a food pantry. Foodlink is a feeding America regional food bank. They distribute to a network of over 500 member agencies in Central and Western New York.
NYSAR legal counsel, Anthony Gatto was in attendance at the board meeting to talk about the Fair Housing Regulations that are in effect as of June 20th, 2020. As a reminder, these regulations include commercial real estate. The Fair Housing regulation is divided into three sections: Housing and Anti-Discrimination Disclosure Form, Fair Housing Notice and video and audio recording of all Fair Housing continuing education courses. Please be sure you are in compliance with the regulations (a Q&A was sent to all NYSCAR members to help answer questions on this topic).
In closing, please remember David Battistoni of Red Hook, who passed away last week. David was a founding member of the Hudson Valley Chapter of NYSCAR and a friend to many of us. He was always there to help out in any way he could. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to David’s family.
James Walker, CCIM, is the 2020 president of NYSCAR, Albany, N.Y.
