Brooklyn, NY DXA studio has been engaged by the Rivington Co. to design a new residential property at 21 Garden St. in the Bushwick neighborhood.
Formerly the home of a woodworking company that made custom furniture pieces and cabinetry, the new rental development will be eight stories and a mix of both affordable and market rate residences. The development will consist of 50 units.
“DXA studio looks forward to working with the Rivington Company on this exciting project,“ said Wayne Norbeck, a partner at DXA studio. “Our design will celebrate this vibrant and transitioning Brooklyn neighborhood.”
“We hope to draw upon some of the industrial character of the neighborhood,” said DXA Cofounder Jordan Rogove, “and bring in some of what may be missing, in the form of trees and plantings, to the appropriately named Garden Street.”
The site is close to the Woodhull Medical Center and Hospital. This neighborhood, near the Broadway Triangle, has a recent history of manufacturing and assembly spaces, auto-body shops, and metalworking facilities. The addition of these residences will bring much needed housing to this area of Brooklyn.
The neighborhood is accessible to the JMZ and L train lines, and the project is expected to be completed in 2022.
