Mountainville, NY Tectonic Engineering & Surveying Consultants P.C. received a Platinum Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New York at the 52nd Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Competition on April 13th. Tectonic was honored for their work on Cornell University’s Tech Campus’ Sustainable Solar Design Project.
As a subconsultant to the solar project developer, EnterSolar, structural engineering services were performed for rooftop solar array installations on “The Bridge Building” and “The Emma and Georgina Bloomberg Center,” at the new Cornell Tech campus at Roosevelt Island in NYC.
The buildings are amongst the largest net-zero energy buildings in the United States, all its power generating through a variety of site-specific strategies to reduce energy demand and utilize renewable energy. The 850kW system is comprised of over 2,200 solar modules, including innovative solar racking, inverter and data monitoring technology.
For over 50 years, ACEC-NY honors firms for their design achievements of superior skill and ingenuity. These awards help publicize the many significant contributions consulting engineers make to the built environment throughout the world.
