Which of your philanthropic endeavors are you most proud of?
I love my work with Canstruction Long Island. Over the past 10 years, I’ve participated as a team captain for RDG, an event committee member, and as the director of sponsorship for the Executive Board. Each year, teams of architects, engineers, designers and contractors build giant structures made of cans of food which go on display for 2 -3 weeks to raise awareness of the hunger problem on Long Island. After the exhibit, the cans are donated to local food pantries. Over the past 11 years, we’ve raised nearly 500,000 cans of food plus over $40,000 to help the local community.
What does it mean to you to be a team player?
It takes a lot of talent and skills in different fields to build a project. Each member of the team contributes their individual knowledge and skills to the best of their ability to make it all happen. Prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, delegating work to the right people, brainstorming, clear communication and responding in a timely manner are all key to being a good team player.
