New York, NY According to the Greater New York chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), they have selected Matt Duthie, regional director of management services at Newmark Knight Frank, as Real Estate Person of the Year, honoring his accomplishments including his leadership, dedication, commitment and service to the real estate industry throughout the course of his career.
Duthie will be honored at the organization’s annual dinner & awards on Thursday, February 7th at 230 FIFTH. The event is sponsored by IREM Industry Partners Durnan Group Managers; JAD Building Maintenance Supplies and Total Fire Protection.
Duthie brings 32 years of commercial real estate management experience to his position. He is responsible for the oversight and growth of Newmark Knight Frank’s management portfolio in New York. He is also responsible for business development to maximize market share and profitability for the region.
He previously served as a managing director at Jones Lang LaSalle; an executive vice president at Ruben Companies and senior vice president, co-director of Reckson Associates’ Manhattan division.
Duthie is a member and former chairman of the board of directors, Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), an officer and member of the board of directors, Building Owners and Managers Association International; a member of the board of directors, Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations and vice president, member of the board of directors, New York Energy Consumer Council.

The evening’s other honorees include Erin Leahy, CPM, Certified Property Manager of the Year Cushman & Wakefield for her intellect, outstanding professionalism and commitment to excellence in property and asset management.
Accredited Management Organization of the Year Related Management Company; for their innovation in property management and their high ethical standards and commitment to the education and certification of property managers.
Industry Partner of the Year JAD Building Maintenance Supplies for their professional integrity, service to the real estate industry and long time support of IREM.
Humanitarian of the Year Daniel Durante, ARM, RY Management, for his decades of dedication and volunteerism with “You Gotta Believe,” an organization that helps place older children in permanent adoptive families.
The chapter’s 2019 officers will also officially take the helm at the dinner.
