Manhattan, NY B6 Real Estate Advisors (B6), an investment sales and capital advisory brokerage firm led by industry veteran Paul Massey, Jr., has appointed Thomas Donovan as partner and vice chairman. Donovan, a Queens specialist responsible for $2 billion of real estate and close to 600 buildings sold throughout his career, will oversee a territory consisting of the Astoria, Long Island City, Elmhurst, Forest Hills, Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village, Rego Park, Ridgewood, Sunnyside and Woodside neighborhoods. He will be joined by his current team of three brokers in his new role at B6 Real Estate Advisors.
“In addition to being an extremely successful broker, one who has achieved notoriety within the industry and gained the respect of owners and peers, Tom epitomizes the boots-on-the-ground approach that is at the core of B6’s philosophy,” said Massey, the founder and CEO of B6. “He was the first partner at Massey Knakal to lead the company outside of Manhattan which was the linchpin of the firm’s success. His invaluable knowledge of all things Queens, coupled with our technology-forward platform will immediately ensure we capture a significant slice of the borough’s market share.”
A decorated United States Marine and former New York City police officer, Mr. Donovan most recently served as Vice Chairman in the Capital Markets Group of Cushman & Wakefield. Prior to Cushman & Wakefield, Donovan worked with Massey at Massey Knakal Realty Services where he grew the Queens sales team from two to over 20 people. Donovan was recognized for his sales accomplishments by Real Estate Forum’s Top Broker Award in 2014, CoStar Top Sales Broker Award for 2008-2014 and was listed in Crain’s 40 under 40 in 2005.
“I value the opportunity to partner once again with Paul Massey and take the fundamental philosophy of ‘Building by Building, Block by Block’ to a new level with an innovative tech platform geared for the next generation of brokers,” said Donovan. “My deep knowledge of the Queens market, longstanding relationships with owners and keen attention to the trends transforming the borough will allow B6 to be a dominant player in this particular market.”
As partner and vice chairman at B6 Real Estate Advisors, Donovan’s responsibilities will include territory management, business development, real estate advisory services and executing sales goals.
Donovan graduated from St. Francis Preparatory High School and went on to study business management at St. John’s University. A brain tumor survivor, Donovan has served on the boards of several charities including the Brain Tumor Foundation, the Varadi Ovarian Institute for Cancer Education, the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, the VFW Catholic War Veterans and the Columbus Citizens Foundation.
