CPEX honors community leaders at annual St. Patrick’s Day breakfast

Brooklyn, NY On Friday, March 16th, CPEX Real Estate held its annual Saint Patrick’s Day Breakfast bringing together community and industry leaders. Hosted at McMahon’s Public House in Park Slope. CPEX managing partners Timothy King and Brian Leary recognized three Irish-Americans who have made a long-standing impact on their communities: New York State senator Martin Golden, TD Bank market president Peter Meyer, and Saint Francis College alumni relations director Dennis McDermott.

“Saint Patrick’s Day is an important time to reflect on the sacrifices and contributions our Irish ancestors made to build a better life here in New York and America – quite literally, from our bridges to the ships at the Brooklyn Navy Yard,” said King. 

“For us, it’s also an opportunity to recognize what our contemporary Irish-Americans are doing to give back to our communities,” said Leary. “Marty, Peter, and Dennis each epitomize that Irish spirit.”

Senator Golden was elected in 2002 to represent the borough’s 22nd Senate District, which includes the neighborhoods of Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, Dyker Heights, Gerritsen Beach, Gravesend, Manhattan Beach, Marine Park, Midwood, and Sheepshead Bay. Over the last 15 years he has authored over 222 laws spurring economic development and improving public safety. He previously served for ten years and received numerous awards with the NYC PD.

Meyer oversees the New York market for TD Bank, having played a key role in TD Bank’s expansion throughout the New York marketplace. He has been actively involved on the boards of several nonprofit and civic organizations in New York City, including the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, Greater Jamaica Development Corp., and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, where he is the Chairman Emeritus.

McDermott has spent nearly 20 years as the director of alumni relations at Saint Francis College, where he also finished his collegiate basketball career as the leading scorer in school history. He has spearheaded major gifts from alumni to grow the presence of Saint Francis College in Downtown Brooklyn and serve as a pillar of the community.
