Manhattan, NY In less than two weeks, the Famularo team at Eastern Consolidated arranged a 15-year, 2,500 s/f retail lease for a new kosher restaurant at 211 East 46th St. off of Third Ave. in Midtown East.
James Famularo, senior director and principal, and Jeff Geoghegan, director, represented the landlord and procured the tenant, chef Josh Kessler.
“Josh is a very experienced extremely talented chef, having previously worked for Danny Meyer of Union Square Hospitality and Mike’s Bistro, a kosher restaurant,” Geoghegan said. “The space was so desirable that we leased it before we even started marketing it.”
Famularo said “The demand for kosher food in the area is very strong. We were able to bring in the new restaurateur before the previous tenant, Tulsi, a Michelin starred Indian restaurant, handed back the keys. This is a terrific Midtown East location directly across the street from Sparks Steak House, next to the Lebanese American University, surrounded by high-rise buildings, and less than two blocks from the United Nations.”
Famularo introduced Chef Kessler to contemporary artist Roy Nachum to design the restaurant. Nachum designed celebrity hot spot 1Oak and restaurants Southern Hospitality & Hunt & Fish Club, all of which were leased by Famularo. His works have been collected by Jay Z, Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keyes, and Rihanna.
The fully fixtured restaurant space offers 25 feet of frontage in an area that enjoys heavy foot traffic.
