Buffalo, NY Sinatra & Co. Real Estate and Ellicott Development Co. have acquired the former Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo site from Kaleida Health. The firms have had the chance to meet with residents, neighboring businesses, and city and elected officials to develop a plan that is both thoughtful, and focused on the needs of the community.
The resulting vision for the campus is found within Elmwood Crossing, a predominately residential and amenity driven transformational use of the former institutional site spread over seven acres. Plans for a daycare, hotel, and grocery store, are included within the site, along with condominiums, townhomes and apartments.
Initial estimates call for an investment of $90-$110 million on the associated projects, incrementally over the course of a 3-4 year development timeline.
The plans include pursuit of opportunities for the addition of green pedestrian paths, and public art installations as part of the campus-wide redevelopment.
At this point, the development team will have full access to the site to further develop specifics for the site, including design, tenancies and programming, along with input from the Kaleida assembled Project Advisory Committee, neighbor and community stakeholders, along with other interested individuals and officials representing various community interests.
During this time, Kaleida is being provided access to the site to complete its decanting and relocation to the Oishei Children’s Hospital.
