What have been some of the benefits of being a mentor or having a mentor?
There are major benefits to having a mentor as a young associate when you’re starting your career. With anything, to be successful at something requires time, practice and experience. The average person doesn’t leave law school knowing how to practice law. In law school, you are taught about the law itself, but not necessarily how to practice it. Therefore, building a relationship with an experienced attorney to teach you and guide you as you develop your own skill set is invaluable to your professional career.
What time management strategies do you find to be the most effective for you?
I find that the best way to manage my time is to make a list of all my assignments and put them in order of priority and/or deadline. I set goals for myself as to when each assignment should be complete and how long it should take and I try my best not to deviate from that. Having it written down in front of me helps to see everything I need to complete.
