Langsam Property Services Corp. is a Bronx-based real estate management company. The company is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of approximately 300 buildings containing over 9,000 dwelling units and 300 commercial units. These buildings are located in the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and lower Westchester County.
When Mark Engel joined the organization in the mid 1970s, it managed 2,500 housing units. Langsam is designated as an Accredited Management Organization (AMO), a standard of ex-cellence in management conferred by the Chicago-based, Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Langsam is one of only two AMO’s in all of New York State which has four certified property managers directing its property management teams.
The multi-generational firm is led by Mark and Matt Engel who have been running the firm together for the past 15 years. Both hold the prestigious designation of certified property manager and are licensed real estate brokers, and insurance brokers. Mark Engel is also a certified public accountant. Both have previously been president of the Bronx Manhattan North Association of Realtors and both have served as leaders of the Rent Stabilization Association, and the Bronx Realty Advisory Board. Matt Engel currently serves as president of the Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP).
All of Langsam’s managing agents are either licensed associate real estate brokers or sales associates. Several are experienced in construction and design. Other professional staff have almost 50 years combined property management and support experience. Its director of operations holds a CPM designation and other staff hold advanced degrees in public finance and urban planning. Staff also have held high level positions in New York City government.
