New York, NY ACE Mentor Program held its 2015 Fall Cocktail Reception on September 17th at The Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. Leading architecture, construction and engineering professionals attended and were welcomed by the chairman of the board of directors, Milo Riverso, Ph.D., P.E., CCM, who spoke about the program's growth and introduced members of the design and construction team, Caroline Baumann of the Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian Museum of Design, Richard Southwick, FAIA, LEED AP of Beyer Blinder Belle, Alastair Elliott of Robert Silman Associates, and Robert Zirkel of E.W. Howell, who spoke about the recent renovation of the museum. The sold-out event directly supported ACE Mentor Program’s mission to encourage high school students to pursue careers in architecture, construction management and engineering through mentoring and scholarship opportunities. The reception generated robust support, and raised over $100,000. The event was co-chaired by Jon DiBiase of E.W. Howell and Bruce Lilker, P.E. of Lilker Associates. The ACE Mentor Program is the fastest-growing high school mentoring program focusing on careers in the integrated construction industry. It was founded by the principals of leading design and construction firms, to introduce high school students to career opportunities in the industry. The mission of the organization is to engage, excite and enlighten high school students to pursue careers in the design/build construction industry through mentoring, and to support their continued advancement in the industry through scholarships and grants. ACE especially focuses on reaching students who otherwise may not become aware of the challenges and rewards of a career in the design and construction industry.
