Wheatley Heights, NY Peter Schapero, co-president of the Long Island Real Estate Group (LIREG), and Richard Herzbach, chairman of LIREG’s charity committee, joined campers at Sunrise Day Camp in Wheatley Heights on August 12th for the dedication of the camp’s LIREG Musical Garden. LIREG donated $25,000 to Sunrise, an affiliate of the Barry & Florence Friedberg JCC in Oceanside, for construction of the garden. The camp, which serves juvenile cancer patients and their siblings, expanded its music program this past summer with oversized drums, bells, gongs, xylophones and more. Since its founding in 2004, LIREG has contributed $1 million to numerous real estate-related projects undertaken by charities on Long Island.
