Mineola, NY Kathleen Rairden, MAI, has been elected president of the L.I. chapter of the Appraisal Institute for the Year 2016. Serving Nassau and Suffolk counties of L.I., the chapter encourages local real estate appraisers to earn Appraisal Institute professional membership designations and provides appraisal education and networking. Rairden is director, valuation and advisory services of CBRE.
As L.I. chapter president, Rairden’s key goal is to further the appraisal profession in the world of real estate economics. “My goal is to encourage focused and purposeful growth for our chapter. Our efforts, combined with other AI chapters across the nation, working together collaboratively, will work to bring a global appraisal presence to fruition.”
The Long Island chapter provides opportunities by providing education to our members in coordination with their national office and mentor program, assisting their members in achieving their professional designations. Continuing education programs and networking opportunities are offered in the form of 2, 3, or 7 hour seminars and dinner meetings, which fulfill state continuing education requirements, and provide a forum for exploring new topics and networking.
Rairden, who earned her MAI designation in 2004, has been a member of the chapter’s board of directors since 2009. In addition, she has served the Long Island chapter as associate member guidance chair, special seminar chair, region IV representative, and leadership development and advisory committee representative, candidate advisor, program chair and treasurer. Rairden holds Certified General Licenses in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, and has been active as a commercial appraiser on Long Island and the Metropolitan New York Area for over 27 years. Rairden earned a Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York at Oneonta.
