Farmingdale, NY According to Hunt Corporate Services, Inc., Rugs America, a national wholesaler of designer rugs, has sold their 18,500 s/f commercial building at 242 Broadhollow Rd. Andy Dorman, an associate broker at Hunt, represented the seller in the $3.2 million deal.
“Our clients originally wanted to lease out their building,” said Dorman, “but market conditions told us they would do better to sell it.” In fact, Dorman received more offers to purchase than to lease, even though the property wasn’t officially for sale.
“This sale proves that people are still willing to pay top dollar to be on Rte. 110,” said Dorman. “The 110 corridor remains a powerful location for retailers who want exposure to Long Island’s strongest customer base.”
Stickley Audi & Company, one of the nation’s best-known furniture retailers, purchased the building. It had been completely renovated both inside and out with 8,500 s/f of office and showroom space and 10,000 sq/f of warehouse space.
Rugs America, founded 22 years ago, intends to move its warehousing operations to Georgia while keeping its executive offices on Long Island.
