Beverly Hills, CA According to Douglas Elliman Real Estate, it has named Stephen Kotler as president of its Western Region operations. “In his 26 years at Elliman, Stephen has been essential to our overall growth and expansion efforts into new territories,” said Dottie Herman, president and CEO of Douglas Elliman. “This role is yet another progression for Stephen, one in which we know he will apply the same work ethic and commitment to excellence as he has for nearly three decades.”

Kotler joined Elliman’s New York practice in 1991 and was based in the firm’s office at 575 Madison Ave. until 2015, when he made the move to Los Angeles as Elliman expanded to the West Coast. Kotler has been a key strategist behind the company’s move into the Los Angeles and Aspen, Colorado markets, and was also instrumental in Elliman’s expansion into South Florida in 2012.

“Our move to the West Coast required an individual with the expertise and insight to foster Elliman’s growing operations,” said Howard Lorber, Elliman’s chairman. “With more than 30 years of experience in real estate sales and management, Stephen has been able to not only successfully lead, but also drive the region’s accelerated growth—which he will undoubtedly continue to do in this role.”

Known for his expertise in global markets, Kotler was instrumental in launching Douglas Elliman’s alliance with London-based Knight Frank Residential in 2014. With 489 worldwide offices and more than 19,000 brokers, Douglas Elliman and Knight Frank Residential provide the largest platform to market properties to a global audience on behalf of their clients.

“I’m excited to continue increasing Elliman’s presence and revenue in the Western Region,” said Kotler. “In the last year alone, we’ve grown exponentially in size and sales volume, and I know that as president I will be able to take the region to the next level.”

In the last year, Douglas Elliman has grown from 45 agents across California to more than 110, in which time the firm’s Western Region sales volume has more than doubled. In Colorado, there are a total of 48 agents now, with 18 recruits in the past 12 months.
