Ponniah, Cartagena and Vladislavova join Eyzenberg & Co.
New York, NY Real estate investment bank Eyzenberg & Co. has hired Ian Ponniah, Katherine Cartagena and Anastasia Vladislavova.
Ponniah joins as managing director, and Cartagena and Vladislavova come on board as business development associates.
“As investors’ criteria and appetite change in this complicated market, they seek high-touch capital advisors to guide them through an ever changing landscape,” said David Eyzenberg, who launched the firm in May. “We have found a particular niche in aligning with middle- to upper-middle entrepreneurial firms that don’t have in-house capital raising expertise. They instead rely on our access to the capital universe and talented professionals like Ian, Katherine and Anastasia to help them execute their complex transactional needs.”
Ponniah, who joins from Fort Amsterdam Capital, will focus on the placement and execution of capital raise engagements. He has also held positions at Aristone Realty Capital, NewOak Capital, Madison Equities, Wall Street Realty Capital and ABN AMRO, transacting billions of dollars in financing.
Cartagena and Vladislavova, who are both graduates of the NYU Schack real estate masters program, are responsible for identifying potential debt and equity real estate business opportunities.
Eyzenberg noted that the new hires are a part of a growth strategy that anticipates adding several new professionals per quarter as the firm expands its client base in New York and continues to service existing clients throughout the U.S. Many of the new professionals he hires are former students he has taught as an adjunct professor at NYU and Columbia University; his staff is more than 50% female.
The firm’s core competencies include senior secured debt, preferred equity, mezzanine loans, and joint venture equity for existing, transitional, and to-be-built projects. It also focuses on bifurcating and financing leasehold interests and ground leases, transactions that are completed with partner firm Anika Equities.
