Riguardi of JLL New York Tri-State receives honorary doctorate from Iona College

New York, NY Peter Riguardi, chairman and president of JLL’s New York tri-state operations, received an honorary doctorate degree from Iona College and provided the keynote address at commencement ceremonies for the master’s degree graduating class of 2016, held on Saturday, May 21, at Madison Square Garden in New York.

A 1983 Iona College graduate with degrees in marketing and finance, Riguardi received an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree. Riguardi leads all operations for JLL in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area, managing a team of approximately 2,000 professionals in seven offices throughout the region. Named chair in February 2016 in addition to retaining his role as president, Riguardi now oversees all business lines in the region including brokerage, capital markets, property/facilities management, consulting, and project and development services. “We’re honored to have a business leader of Riguardi’s caliber and achievement share his expertise with our graduating students,” said Iona College president Joseph Nyre, Ph.D. “He is an outstanding example of what an Iona education can help achieve as he has literally moved the world of real estate and property management.” “It is a great honor to receive this recognition from Iona College, and to have the opportunity to speak to the graduates that will lead our country in years to come,” Riguardi said. “Iona provides a challenging academic environment that helps students develop the skills required to excel in a broad range of fields, and it has been a pleasure to remain closely involved with the school.” Riguardi serves on the board of governors for the Real Estate Board of New York and is an active member of the organization’s senior leadership. He is also on the board of directors of the Regional Plan Association and on the board of the Rabin Medical Center of Israel, as well as a member of the Partnership for the City of New York. He is a former member of the Iona College board of trustees and has been honored by the Rabin Medical Center of Israel, Met Council, Muscular Dystrophy, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Special Olympics, United Way and The Police Athletic League.
