September 4, 2015 - Brokerage
Material Wrld, an online platform that offers customers the opportunity to exchange their unwanted designer clothes for gift cards, and The Line, a curated e-commerce fashion and home décor company, are relocating to Sunset Park's Industry City. Bolstering the innovation hub growing at Industry City, the two fashion-focused startups are leasing a combined 25,000 s/f at the 16-building, 6-million s/f complex, where they will join a diverse roster of technology and creative companies. "The creative class powering the innovation economy has found a home at Industry City," said Andrew Kimball, CEO of Industry City. "Companies like Material Wrld and The Line - that exist at the intersection of technology, fashion and design - will undoubtedly find a host of collaborative opportunities within the community of diverse, yet like-minded, makers and innovators growing here." Material Wrld will move 20 employees into a 14,500 s/f space this coming September. The five-year lease, which was signed in May, was negotiated by Scott Brown of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank on behalf of Material Wrld, and by the internal leasing team for Industry City. The Line leased 11,500 s/f in a waterfront building. The five-year lease was signed in May without any brokers. The startup will set up shop in their new space in this fall.
