Gettry Marcus CPA, P.C., hosted "Sips for Sunrise," a wine tasting fundraising event, on behalf of the Sunrise Association. The event was held at the firm's headquarters on Thursday evening, June 11th.
The event attracted 300 business leaders from Long Island and NYC. Wine from various North Fork vineyards was donated for the event by Brian Heltzer, CEO of Patchogue-based, Serenity Limousines. Ten companies sponsored wine-tasting tables, where they served attendees and provided information on the wine samplings. Food sponsors included local restaurants who offered attendees samplings of their signature dishes.
Gettry Marcus has chosen to support the Sunrise Association as part of its Corporate Responsibility Initiative. The mission of the Sunrise Association is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings world-wide through the creation of Sunrise Day Camp, In-Hospital Recreational Activities and other year round programs, all offered free of charge.
Rebecca Alesia, councilwoman from the town of Oyster Bay presented Steven Marcus, managing partner on behalf of Gettry Marcus, with a citation in recognition of their firm wide support of the Sunrise Association.
The firm's fundraising efforts on behalf of the Sunrise Association culminated by their participation as a team, The Gettry Marcus SunRisers, at the 10th Annual SunriseWALKS on June 14th at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds in Wheatley Heights. To date, the firm has raised in excess of $45,000.
