John Gallin & Son, one of N.Y.'s oldest family-owned contracting and construction management firms, has named Christopher Gallin president. He was previously VP of marketing and client relations, and will now oversee the entirety of John Gallin & Son's strategy and operations across all departments. He becomes the seventh member of the Gallin family to lead John Gallin & Son since its founding in 1886. Mark Varian, who has served as president since 2000 and has been with John Gallin & Son since 1973, will remain with the firm as chairman of the board. During his time as president, Varian facilitated a highly collaborative work style and positioned John Gallin & Son as one of N.Y.C.'s most trusted contractors.
"I am honored to continue the 130-year tradition at John Gallin & Son," said Gallin. "We are a business of families, and I am committed to upholding the values on which this company was built while leading us into an exciting new era." Gallin joined John Gallin & Son as a superintendent in 1983. He quickly rose through the firm's ranks to become Partner and Vice President in 1987. As Vice President of Marketing and Client Relations for nearly three decades, Gallin played a vital role in developing John Gallin & Son's sales, marketing, administration and IT departments. Gallin holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Dayton. In addition to his role with John Gallin & Son, he serves as an instructor at the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen of the City of New York Mechanics Institute.
