What recent honor, achievement or recognition has meant the most to you and why?
I was so honored to recently receive the Achievers' Award from the Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women (LICBPW). This prestigious award means a great deal to me because it was granted by my business peers who felt I deserved it. The award is for my business accomplishments in the last 26 years and the fact that I feel strongly about helping young women succeed. I proudly sit on the boards of the NYC Women's Chamber of Commerce and the NY Women's Agenda.
When you launched your own business what were some of the initial challenges and how did you overcome them?
Early on, we realized that becoming certified as a WBE (woman-owned business enterprise) was an important step we needed to take. We learned to maximize WBE opportunities by registering with several major public agencies.
Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career and why?
The strongest influence on my career was my father. He was the owner of a stone and masonry company. Riding in his large truck as a little girl, my interest in the construction business was definitely launched. My father always had faith that I could do anything that I wanted to. My dad may be gone for over thirty years, but to this day he is still my biggest influence.
