The Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors hosts "Community Day"

June 9, 2015 - Brokerage
The Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors (GSAR) held its annual event, called "Community Day," where speakers shared their insights with GSAR's Realtor members on pertinent real estate issues at the local level. This year's two main speakers were U.S. Congress Representative John Katko (NY-24) and Dr. Neil Murphy from Consensus CNY, Commission on local government modernization. Rep. Katko engaged with GSAR Realtor members on several important real estate topics including Mid-Mortgage Interest Deduction, National Flood Insurance, and T.R.I.D. Regulation. Dr. Murphy explained how Consensus CNY is helping to shape a vision for more effective and efficient governance across Onondaga County. They are exploring a range of solutions that can help modernize our local government, making it more cost effective and efficient, while at the same time maintaining high quality standards. Consensus will complete an analysis and make recommendations by the end of 2015. Dr. Murphy reiterated that, in the end, it will be our community that will take a leadership role defining how it wants to be organized and governed locally. The Community Day event, which was held at GSAR's office on East Taft Rd., was attended by 115 Realtor members who took full advantage of the Q&A sessions with both speakers.
