ACEC New York will present the 2015 chairman's award to the president of the New York Building Congress, Richard Anderson. Anderson is being recognized for his dedication as a tireless advocate and recognized expert in the design and construction industry of New York.
The award will be presented at the council's annual spring membership luncheon at the Union League Club on June 10th. Two consulting engineers, Neil Lucey and Alex Strasenburgh, will receive the Engineer of the Year and the New Principal of the Year awards, respectively, for their contributions to the profession.
* Chairman's Award: Richard Anderson, president, New York Building Congress: The ACEC New York Chairman's Award is presented each year to an individual who has shown outstanding leadership, creativity and vision related to New York's engineering community including infrastructure, development, and the business of design. Anderson is considered by many to be the "face" of the building industry in New York. Over the past 20 years, Anderson has ushered in a period of unprecedented influence and growth for the New York Building Congress, a public policy organization in its 94th year of promoting the design, construction and real estate community. Under his leadership, the New York Building Congress has collaborated with ACEC New York on a number of broad based initiatives to promote infrastructure investment, a robust capital budget and development policy, and sustainability and efficiency in government. ACEC would like to specifically acknowledge his hard work dedicated over the years to advocating for qualifications-based selection for N.Y.C. and expansion at the state level, as well as our current efforts to secure emergency responder legislation.
