Fetscher of Great American Brokerage addresses LICN

May 11, 2015 - Long Island
WOODBURY NY The monthly meeting of the Long Island Commercial Network (LICN) took place at the On Parade Diner on April 28th. The meeting began with informal networking where new and existing members can meet and greet one another. It was another well attended meeting. Ira Zucker opened the meeting with a summary by the committee chairmen updating the membership on the progress of their activities. Notably, for those new members they have the "Introduction to Commercial Real Estate" - a great opportunity for anyone new to real estate or new to commercial real estate as a specialty, to gain a basic understanding of the common elements and differences between residential and commercial real estate. They were reminded that the NAR Code Of Ethics, Article 11, requires that anyone practicing in any area of real estate, must show competence in that area. This free introductory orientation (no ce credit) is an excellent opportunity to discover if commercial real estate is an avenue to pursue further through continuing education classes. LICN was also reminded of the June 9th bus trip to Albany for Legislative Affairs Day to meet their local representatives, and of the May 21st bus trip to Washington, D.C. to meet their local representatives at the state and federal level. Mary Alice Ruppert reminded LICN of RPAC Realtor Day At The Races, noon-2 p.m. at Belmont Racetrack, May 6th. Sign up at LIREALTOR.COM. The technical committee reported a scheduled meeting with LIBOR to review progress on our enhanced website which in fact took place on May 1st in West Babylon. The review went very well and the LIBOR review committee was very impressed with their progress and the features and functions they have incorporated. LICN was also updated on the progress of the bylaws which are being reviewed by the LIBOR and LICN boards. LICN then welcomed their newest sponsor CapitalOne. Their existing sponsors had the opportunity for a one minute review of how they could help our members with their business. LICN also welcomed their new members. Each explained their business to educate the membership on what they do and how to contact them. Then they moved to their education section where they heard from LICN's own Paul G.W. Fetscher, broker/owner of Great American Brokerage/RestaurantExpert.com with his presentation entitled "Paul's Best Bets in Retail Today - Hot Restaurant Trends." They learned that the trend in food today is toward healthy eating and that millennials are more concerned about where food comes from and how it's prepared, than how it tastes, as well as the evolving trend from fast food to "I want it now" food. They reviewed Fetscher's top 10 companies who are seeking expansion in our area: Craft Beers, Chillbox, Eight Turn Crepe, Maroni Hot Pots, BurgerFi, PieCraft, Shake Shack, PDQ and Life Kitchen. For further information, contact Paul Fetscher at516-889-7200 [email protected]. The meeting concluded with LICN's popular "Haves & Wants" where the membership are offered the opportunity for a two-minute advertisement to share the commercial property's they have available as well as what their clients are looking for. LICN meets the last Tuesday of each month at the On Parade Diner at 8 to 10 a.m. Their next meeting will be May 26th where they will get an update on the Realtor agenda from the trip to Washington, D.C. and the upcoming trip to Albany in June from Randy Kaplan, LIBOR's head of Legislative Affairs.
