Batavia-based commercial construction firm Manning Squires Hennig (MSH) has been hired to manage the construction for two projects: the Batavia Veterans Home Generator Building, located at the Batavia V.A. Medical Center at 222 Richmond Ave., and the Comprehensive Cancer Care facility at the United Memorial Medical Center at 127 North St., both located in Genesee County.
As the general contractor for Batavia Veterans Home Generator Building project, MSH will manage the construction of a 770 s/f building that will house the emergency generator and associated site improvements. MSH will manage all phases of the work, including site work, concrete, reinforcing steel, masonry, metal fabrication, standing seam roofing, doors, drywall and painting. The firm will also coordinate the electrical and plumbing prime contracts. The $390,000 project is scheduled to begin June 1, 2015, and is expected to be complete in early November.
"The Batavia Veterans Home Generator Building project really aligns with one of our company's strengths," said David Ciurzynski, project manager at Manning Squires Hennig. "Concrete and masonry projects are the foundation of our business, and we are excited to partner with the Batavia Veterans Home on this opportunity."
MSH will serve as the construction manager and contractor (CM/C) for the United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) Comprehensive Cancer Care project, which will involve the construction an 8,400-square-foot comprehensive cancer center that will include radiation oncology with a linear accelerator, as well as medical oncology for infusion treatments. The comprehensive care center will be part of the existing hospital, where UMMC can provide surgical and radiology services to cancer patients
"This project is very special to us at Manning Squires Hennig," said Ciurzynski. "Once the doors open in January of next year, we know this will have a major impact on individuals who are battling cancer and their families throughout the community. We will also continue to work with the UMMC Foundation to encourage philanthropic opportunities for all supporters of the hospital."
