Faith Hope Consolo, chairman, and Joseph Aquino, executive vice president of Douglas Elliman's retail group have arranged the lease for a contemporary art gallery, Diamondocity, at 958 Lexington Ave. Following a successful debut in East Hampton last summer as a pop-up, Diamondocity - which began its unique collection of "jewelry for the walls" on-line - is opening its first permanent location on the southwest corner at 70th St. and Lexington Ave. The concept, according to the artist/ owners, "started from the love of art and design combining the unique sensibility of modern images with hand set crystals that add sparkle and happiness to any room." The new space is situated on one of the area's prime commercial corridors, surrounded by such neighboring retailers as Cotelac (another tenant arranged by Consolo and Aquino), Courage b, Peter Elliot, J. McLaughlin and Betsy Bunky and Nini, as well as several popular local restaurants, including Bella Blu, Sette Mezzo and The Serafina Group's new concept, Cognac. "The gallery had already built a strong following through its website sale, art shows and pop up store in the Hamptons," said Consolo. "Now this dazzling artwork will be displayed on a highly visible corner and attract even more patrons." Aquino said, "It's another 'clicks-to-bricks' story with a tenant that automatically invokes excitement. I'm thrilled that they'll be in our proverbial backyard with their first standalone unit." Consolo and Aquino exclusively represented the tenant and landlord. Diamondocity takes immediate possession of the space. The previous tenant was Roberta Freymann.
