Professional Profile: Diane Dorsi, 2015
February 9, 2015 - Long Island
Name: Diane Dorsi
Title: Property Manager
Company: We're Associates
Location: Jericho, N.Y.
Birthplace: Flushing, Queens, N.Y.
Education: BA Management, RPA
First job outside of real estate: JAD Specialty Co. Inc. - they were a manufacturers representative that sold precision measuring instruments to aerospace, pharmaceutical and defense companies. I acted as a bookkeeper for 10 years.
First job in real estate or allied field: Hunter Real Estate at The Triad Complex in Lake Success, where I continued in the accounting field. I was responsible for billing tenants rent. In addition, I assisted in construction requisitions and monthly financial meetings for capital improvement projects.
What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? I am currently the president of BOMA Long Island and a property manager for We're Associates. After working at Reckson Associates for 11 years, given the opportunity as a property manager, is where I found my passion for this field. Therefore I would continue in the same position, but when I am ready to slow down I would like the hotel, resort or community living atmosphere.
How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate? Spending time with friends, enjoying a cocktail, and for the past three years looking forward to coming home to my favorite four paw little girl Nutella.
Favorite movie: I have two: "The Holiday" and "Definitely, Maybe"
Last song you purchased/downloaded? Barry Manilow, "A Linda Song"
One word to describe your work environment: Pleasant
Rules to live by in business: It is best to communicate, be honest and share as many details as you have to avoid additional calls and complaints. They (tenants) will respect you for it.
If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead) who would it be and where would you go? I would invite my mom that passed three years ago to an amazing dinner at The Plaza Hotel in N.Y.C.
What is your dream job? From when I was a little girl at the age of 8, vacationing yearly at Woodloch Pines, I always dreamed of being one of the managers for the Family Resort.
