How long have you been a member?
Since my first day in the business-over 20 years
AREW positions held:
President, vice president, member at large, various board positions, chair/sponsorship committee for 20th, 25th and 30th anniversaries, chair/charitable fund and president's council.
How has AREW contributed to your career growth?
When I started in the business, AREW helped give me access to major industry layers from a wide range of sectors, including bankers, brokers, financiers, lawyers and appraisers. As president, AREW provided me with the means by which to structure to both the association and my own business. AREW continues to help my career by giving me personal satisfaction-I'm thrilled to be able to give back to this organization through charitable work.
Most memorable AREW moment:
It was incredibly moving to have received the Founders Award in June of 2000, ten years after I created the award as president. To be the recipient of an award that, upon creating, never dreamed I'd be nominated for was a tremendous honor.
AREW members who have positively influenced your career:
Mary Salerno, one of the original founders and past president of AREW, was very influential because she was a very good listener. Especially when I was president, she gave me a lot of direction and working knowledge in my interface with members.
Carol Nichols, another past president and very important woman in the industry. She provided me with a lot of support and, given her seniority within the field, a great number of networking opportunities.
