What was the best thing that happened to you or your firm in 2014?
In 2014, we intensified BNYDC's focus on creating good-paying jobs, culminating in an announcement by mayor de Blasio in November that the city will invest $140 million to renovate a one million s/f building in the Yard into a modern manufacturing facility that will house as many as 3,000 jobs.
What was your most notable project, deal, transaction or personal achievement in 2014?
The November announcement regarding the $140 million investment in Building 77 certainly comes to mind, as does the strong response we received for an RFP for Admiral's Row, an adaptive reuse of two buildings as well as new construction on a six acre parcel.
What are you looking forward to accomplishing in 2015?
BNYDC is looking forward to opening our new Green Manufacturing Center to tenants and designating a developer for the conversion of Admiral's Row into spaces for a grocery store that best serves the community; light industry; and additional retail.
BNYDC is also expanding its job placement and training programs so that even more local residents can find meaningful opportunities at the Yard and our tenants can find the talent they need to grow.
What are some of your real estate predictions for 2015?
I predict that the Yard's Building 77 will attract some of New York's, the nation's and the world's leading 21st Century manufacturers who are eager to set up shop and expand in Brooklyn.
