The New York City Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA NYC) hosted a presentation entitled "Work on the Move - How to Implement a Workplace Strategy" on Tuesday, October 21 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Pratt Institute - Manhattan Campus in New York City. Diane Coles Levine, MCR, principal at Workplace Management Solutions, led a presentation on her insights and experience of successfully implementing flexible work programs. Levine reviewed the 5 C's: Cost, Culture, Competitive advantage, Community and Conservation, which all predict an organization's readiness to launch a Workplace Strategy, adding that Workplace Strategy is a very important component of the War on Talent for attracting and retaining staff, citing research which shows that job candidates rank flexible work arrangements as second only to salary when accepting a job offer. Event attendees took away some key best practices, including the advice that coordinated planning between HR, IT and Facility Management is a critical success factor. At the end of the presentation guests were offered a book produced by the IFMA Foundation entitled "Work on the Move - Driving Strategy and Change in Workplaces" designed as a reference to offer information on an as needed basis.
