100 Women Who Care about Long Island donates $6,300 to Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center
October 20, 2014 - Long Island
On July 8, the members of 100 Women Who Care about Long Island voted to award the quarterly meeting member donation checks to Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center. Charter member, Meg Beaufrere, who nominated Little Shelter, shared these thoughts on their being selected to receive the donation at this meeting:
"Little Shelter has been an outstanding presence in our community for over 87 years. They are a No Kill Shelter and rescue hurt, abandoned, ill and unwanted dogs and cats that are facing certain death in hi-kill municipal shelters and place them in deserving homes. Little Shelter touches the lives of over 2,000 animals each year through their groundbreaking programs, and has state of the art medical facilities for their 100% spay and neuter program. Little Shelter has been named 'Best of Long Island' for five straight years (2010-2014). They are also a part of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals, and have the distinction of being the only shelter not located in NYC to be included in the Alliance," said Beaufrere. "This donation to Little Shelter will make a big impact, and they are now focusing on how they will use the funds for the most benefit."
This quarterly donation is anticipated to be in excess of $6,300 when all checks have been received.
