Prime Manhattan Residential sells $10.75 million West Village townhouse

A classic Greek revival townhouse located at 54 Charles Street in the borough's West Village has gone into contract for $10.75 million, just two weeks after it was placed on the market, according to Robert Dankner, president of Prime Manhattan Residential. The 5,000 s/f residence, located between Greenwich Avenue and West 4th Street, has three separate outdoor spaces and a total of 12 fireplaces. Dankner, who represented the buyer, said the townhouse's design, location and expansive outdoor space sparked immediate interest and quickly resulted in a bidding war.
"54 Charles is centrally located in one of the most desirable areas of Manhattan, near everything a person could want. It came as no surprise to me that multiple people wanted to purchase it the moment it hit the market," said Dankner.
Originally built in 1899 and full of original details, 54 Charles boasts five bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one powder room. Refinished wide pine plank floors can be found throughout, as well as high ceilings that range from 10 to 13 feet, depending on the floor. The townhouse consists of four floors total, including the basement and roof deck.
Multiple outdoor spaces can be found throughout. Doors open from the kitchen area to a private garden room on one side and an outside garden on the other complete with cherry trees, a fishpond, and boxwood hedge. The terrace off the living room contains ample greenery and plant life, and the roof deck offers scenic views of both the Empire State Building and Freedom Tower.
