A seven-story masonry building located in the city's central business district been sold. A local development group purchased the building for $340,000. Alexandre Apartments LLC, a woman-owned development company headed by Amy Judd, purchased 510 Washington St. from John Barry. CBRE|Buffalo represented the seller. According to Judd, she plans to historically preserve, restore and convert the former Loew's Theatre Company warehouse, which was constructed in 1920, into loft apartments. The warehouse was designed by architect Thomas Lamb. The 19,500 s/f building will be divided into 12 loft apartments as well as commercial space on the first floor. "The adaptive reuse project will preserve the historic qualities of the property, while using cutting-edge clean technologies to power and service the 94-year old building," Judd said. She plans to incorporate solar panels into the design and will seek LEED certification for the building as well. Construction for the project is slated to begin in the fall and has a projected completion date of fall 2015.
