According to Cushman & Wakefield, John Strachan, head of global retail, has been appointed to the board of trustees of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Strachan, the company's global retail head, is a partner with the firm and based in London. He brings 35 years of retail sector experience to his duties as Trustee, and is experienced in handling leasing, sale and acquisition, valuation, rent review, and development consultancy for high street shopping, retail parks, and shopping centers in the UK, Italy, Spain, France, Russia, India, and China.
"ICSC is the premier global retail professional organization, and to be named as one of its guiding trustees is an honor indeed," said Strachan; "I look forward to drawing on my own experience as a commercial real estate professional to help advance the mission and objectives of this storied trade association."
Strachan's responsibilities as a member of the ICSC Board will include assisting the organization in implementing its strategic mission globally. Together with the other 51 voting trustees, he will advocate for the interests of the shopping center industry both in the marketplace and in federal, state, and local governments worldwide. He will also conduct meetings amongst the more than 66,000 industry professionals comprising ICSC's membership, and will develop and provide educational programming and publications for all aspects of shopping center development, management, finance, marketing, and other areas of professional interest.
Strachan will serve a three-year term on the board of trustees.
