100 Women Who Care about Long Island donates $6,000 to Angela's House

On April 8th, members of 100 Women Who Care about Long Island voted to award their $6,000 meeting's member donation checks to Angela's House. Angela's House assists families caring for medically frail children living at home with their parents, or in special homes that offer 24-hour nursing support. Their programs include home care assistance, residential care and community projects. Charter member, Karin Caro, who also sits on Angela's House advisory board, spoke to our members. "Once I became aware of the remarkable service that Angela's House does, and the lifelong commitment the founder, Bob Policastro has made, I instantly became passionate about helping this little known population. It's comforting to know that compassionate people like those at Angela's House exist to guide families and children in need," she said. 100 Women Who Care about Long Island is a philanthropic group formed for local women who are interested in supporting their communities by contributing to Long Island charities together as a group to increase the donation impact. All of their members/teams make a pledge to 100 Women Who Care about Long Island to make an annual donation of $400. This equates to their writing a $100 check made payable to the winning charity, even if they are not in attendance, at each of our quarterly meetings. As individuals it is difficult to make a very large impact, but as a group they have the ability to contribute to the growth of their communities in ways that they never before thought possible. The size of their quarterly donations is limited only by the members they have! Their next meeting is Tuesday, July 8th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Jewel Restaurant in Melville (on Rte. 110 at the LIE in Rubie Corporate Plaza.) After the meeting they invite you to join them for some socializing and networking. There will be complimentary hors d›oeuvres and a cash bar available.
