Goldberg & Connolly's managing partner Henry Goldberg recently moderated a panel discussion hosted by the Metro NY/NJ Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) entitled, "New York's Scaffold Law (Labor Law 240)—What Needs to be Done." The discussion took place on Tuesday, March 18 at Landmarc Restaurant at the Time Warner Center. Goldberg was joined by panelists Tom Stebbins, executive director for Lawsuit Reform Alliance of New York, Ross Holden, executive vice president and general counsel for the NYC School Construction Authority, Keith Cornish, regional senior vice president of construction practice of the Northeast Region for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., and David Marino, regional managing director of Greater NY for Aon Risk Services. Goldberg and the panelists discussed scaffold law in depth and how it affects more people in New York than any other issue. According to Goldberg and the panelists, New York is the only place that imposes absolute liability on the contractor and the reform of Labor Law 240 would reduce insurance costs and put New Yorkers back to work. Goldberg is managing partner at the law firm of Goldberg & Connolly in Rockville Centre. He is an authority in construction law and government contracting. Consistent with this experience, Goldberg enjoys a working relationship with the leadership of most contracting agencies in the area. He serves as general counsel to the NY/NJ Chapter of the CMAA. A graduate of Cornell University and Fordham Law School, he received his bachelor of science in Industrial Labor Relations in 1971 and his J.D. in 1974.
