Building Trades Employers' Association hosts MoMA Tower case study

The Building Trades Employers' Association (BTEA) hosted "Meet the Owner: A BTEA Project Case Study," an in-depth case study of Hines' MoMA Tower. The event featured presentations from Hines, Ateliers Jean Nouvel and Lend Lease, and was held at the Santander Auditorium.
MoMA Tower project team members discussed the driving vision behind the skyscraper as well as the design challenges that needed to be overcome to develop a successful venture of this magnitude. Speakers included Bertram Beissel von Gymnich, partner at Ateliers Jean Nouvel; Tommy Craig, senior managing director of Hines; Timothy Flynn, vice president of construction, east region, at Hines; David Penick, managing director at Hines; and Nicholas Grecco, senior vice president, project executive, at Lend Lease.
The MoMA Tower project team provided an outline of the skyscraper's floor plan as well as the purchaser profile for residential units. The management team emphasized developing an effective marketing strategy to present the building's upscale features and target a high-end consumer. The MoMA Tower project also team described the unique, compartmentalized design of the skyscraper that required efficient communication from the building and design teams. In addition, speakers explained the extensive safety precautions that need to be taken during construction to ensure the safety of the general public and the construction workers, including crane operating procedure on a building with such a distinct shape.
