A new women and children's boutique, mimi&mo, has signed a long-term, 1,239 s/f lease on the ground floor of TF Cornerstone's 4545 Center Blvd., a Long Island City rental building. The retail store, designed by architecture and design firm Slade Architecture, will open on the waterfront thoroughfare in early April and has plans to launch an e-commerce website. "Our boutique will reflect the unique culture and fun spirit of the neighborhood with products that have been hand-selected for the stylish women and children of Long Island City," said founder and owner of mimi&mo, Miriam Zeldovich, who is also an Long Island City resident and the VP of planning for the United Legwear Co. "We look forward to serving the community and becoming a specialty destination for residents and visitors alike." "We have seen tremendous demand for retail among the young couples and families that have flocked to the waterfront," said Steve Gonzalez, director of retail leasing for TF Cornerstone. "mimi&mo will be the first clothing boutique to open on Center Blvd. and is great fit for the neighborhood. We anticipate that the store will serve even more women and children when our sixth and final new rental building, 4610 Center Blvd., opens in spring 2014." mimi&mo's collections include the latest in fashion as well as non-traditional items for women and children under the age of six. The store will carry specialty brands such as: Equipment, Smythe, Current Elliott, Frye and Small Frye, Happy Socks, Nununu, and Mini Rodini, among others. With an emphasis on customer service, mimi&mo will provide special orders and same-day delivery within the neighborhood. The boutique will also maintain wish lists that allow parents to pre-select products that others can purchase for birthdays and holidays. "As a working mother, I know how difficult it is for parents to make time for shopping and to keep up with the latest in fashion," said Zeldovich. "Our unique customer service options will provide both luxury and convenience for the neighborhood's residents." mimi&mo's location at 4545 Center Blvd. is a convenient four-minute subway ride away from Midtown Manhattan on the 7 train, and accessible by the G train, East River Ferry and the Pulaski Bridge. Long Island City's waterfront features acres of parkland, a library, public schools and stores including Sweetleaf Coffee and Tea, Shi Asian Restaurant, Blue Streak Wines, Food Cellar Market, Duane Reade, and MoMA PS1, all of which are within walking distance from 4545 Center Blvd.
