Hunt of Hunt Corp. reps tenant in 12,000 s/f lease at former school

According to Hunt Corporate Services, Inc., The Elija Foundation has leased 12,000 s/f in the former elementary school at 11 Laurel Ln. David Hunt, president of Hunt, represented Elija in the lease negotiations. The Levittown Union Free School District is the landlord. "The Elija Foundation runs The Elija School, which provides comprehensive care for children with autism," said Hunt. "The teacher to student ratio is one to one. The additional space at the Laurel Ln. school will accommodate their expansion and will allow them to continue to increase enrollment, as well as provide community space for outreach programs to the families and professionals who count on them every day." The 13-room school building on Laurel Ln. was built in 1956 and was originally used as an elementary school in the Levittown School District. In 1978, the elementary school closed due to its small size. Over the years, several tenants occupied the building and it continued to be used for educational purposes. The building has been vacant since 2009, when the last tenant relocated within the district. On January 15th the school board voted to lease the building to The Elija Foundation. The Elija Foundation is a not-for-profit, 501c(3) organization serving parents, educators, professionals, and caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) on Long Island. Since 2002, The ELIJA Foundation has provided the community with educational opportunities that focus on improving the quality of programs and services available to children with Autism. In 2006, The ELIJA School opened its doors to extend the mission of the Foundation and start helping children with Autism. The Foundation's focus is to empower families and improve the competency levels of professionals, by providing training on the most advanced treatment and educational strategies that maximize the potential of those affected by Autism.
