Nietzschmann joins WSP as senior vice president

Paul Nietzschmann, who has held senior leadership positions at Parsons Brinckerhoff and Parsons Transportation Group, has joined WSP, the global engineering, design and environmental consultancy, as senior vice president, according to Steven Smith, director of WSP USA Transportation & Infrastructure. Nietzschmann, 61, will lead WSP's Bridge Design practice across New York and New Jersey. He brings with him 35 years of experience in project management, design, inspection, and seismic and structural analysis in the rehabilitation and new construction of major bridges, highways and transit structures. "Paul has not only extensive technical experience in complex bridge design, but also tenacity and perseverance in meeting the needs of clients, an approach that closely aligns with WSP's core values," said Smith. "We believe that adding Paul to our NYC office will further enhance our client relationships in this key metro area." Nietzschmann, who will be based in WSP's New York City office, has led the engineering of many significant structures, including the Bayonne Bridge, Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, Queensboro (Ed Koch) Bridge, Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Park Avenue Railroad Viaduct, RFK (Triborough) Bridge, George Washington Bridge and Madison Avenue Bridge, among others. Nietzschmann is a New York and New Jersey licensed professional engineer. He received his M.S. in Civil Engineering from Columbia University and his B.E. in Civil Engineering from City College of New York. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and past president of The Municipal Engineers of the City of New York.
