McShane joins REBNY as SVP for communications

Jamie McShane, currently the director of communications for the New York City Council, will join the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) as senior vice president for communications, effective January 1st, 2014, according to REBNY president Steven Spinola. As senior vice president for communications, a newly created management-level position, McShane will be the lead staff person responsible for promoting the interests of REBNY and its 15,000 members to the media. "Jamie brings to REBNY a tremendous level of experience dealing with communications and public policy," said Steven Spinola. "He will be an asset to REBNY and our members as we continue to press the point that a successful real estate industry in New York City is the engine that creates good jobs, more housing and the critical tax revenue needed to support and sustain vital government services." "Jamie's love for our city is second to none," said City Council speaker Christine Quinn. "He is a deeply caring, compassionate and dedicated public servant. I am so very fortunate to have had him as part of my team and wish him all the best in this next venture. He is a valuable addition to REBNY and will help them reach new heights in further strengthening New York City." Before becoming chief spokesman for the New York City Council, McShane was an Emmy-award-winning political producer for NBC New York. He previously covered government and politics at CNN, and NY1 News. A native of Sunnyside, Queens and a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science, McShane received a bachelor's degree from SUNY Albany. He lives in New York City with his wife and their two children.
