Merritt Engineering Consultants, P.C. (MEC) completed a façade restoration project located at 565 Park Ave. The building is a 102-year old building located within the historic district along the Upper East Side of the borough. This 12-story structure is well known for its decorative terracotta stones.
The 565 Park Ave. façade restoration project consisted of repairing local law 11/98 related conditions along the main street elevation where numerous cracked bricks and terracotta stones were observed. MEC surveyed the façade and prepared the repair specifications and drawings. MEC also obtained the Landmarks Preservation Commission approval for the scope of work and all repair materials. During the construction course, MEC oversaw the work progress to ensure that all the repairs were being performed as per the project manual, and within the owners' allocated budget and schedule. Various stones that exhibited spalling conditions were replaced with precast units that matched the original in color, texture and profile.
