Consolo, Aquino and Maglio of Douglas Elliman Retail Group bring gluten-free bakery to Broadway

November 25, 2013 - Brokerage
The leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo, chairman, and Joseph Aquino, executive vice president, along with Arthur Maglio, of Douglas Elliman's Retail Group has arranged the Manhattan debut of award-winning "by the way Bakery,"at 2442 Broadway, between 90th and 91st Sts. It is the first New York City location of the Westchester-based patisserie, which was launched in 2011 by master baker Helene Godin. Already the recipient of a Best-of-Westchester award, "by the way bakery" specializes in gourmet gluten-free, vegan-based pastries, prepared without wheat, rye or barley flours, dairy or eggs. "On top of being a great gluten-free story, our client makes some of the most scrumptious pastries in the world," said Consolo. "Her Hastings-on-Hudson store was an overnight success and the new location will do even better with all the foot traffic on this street and nearby schools. A growing demand for gluten-free gourmet fare should also make this the most popular shop on the block." Maglio said, "The Upper West Side was identified as an ideal destination for a business like this, because it is a community of foodies who love restaurants, take-out and baked goods. It is no coincidence that within a two-block radius, alone, the food-related retail includes Carmine's, Tal Bagels, Kosher Marketplace, Big Daddy's, Crumb's, Barzini's Gourmet Market, Le Pain Quotidien, Ollies-to-Go, Cleopatra's Needle and City Diner." Consolo, Aquino and Maglio represented the tenant in the transaction. The landlord's broker was Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.
