October 28, 2013 - Green Buildings
Flushing Bank partnered with U.S. Energy Group to present Energy Efficiency and Financing for Property Owners and Managers, an event featuring distinguished energy and banking experts, on September 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Inn at Great Neck (30 Cutter Mill Rd.) Speakers included: Luke Ferland (energy engineer, Energy Management & Research Associates - EMRA) on behalf of Fred Goldner, C.E.M. (founder, EMRA), David Hepinstall (executive director of the Association for Energy Affordability, Inc. - AEA), Grace Lee (deputy director, New York City Department of Environmental Protection), Francis Korzekwinski (executive VP, Flushing Bank), and David Unger (COO, U.S. Energy Group). Attendees could qualify for financing from Flushing Bank and to arrange the purchase of U.S. Energy Group's Building Energy Management System (BEMS) and other qualified building improvements. The free event is expected to stimulate energy efficiency initiatives in local buildings.
"As a community bank, we welcome the opportunity to help businesses and property owners, in our local community, improve their operating efficiencies. These types of efforts will improve property values in the long run and help to promote cleaner environmental surroundings for all," said Korzekwinski.
The event featured several presentations. Hepinstall, Ferland, and Unger presented strategies to reduce energy usage, run buildings more efficiently and save money. Lee discussed water conservation efforts. Flushing Bank discussed its commercial real estate loan programs and its commercial banking services, including Remote Capture, and Online Banking.
"We are pleased to be working with Flushing Bank to make local buildings more energy efficient," said Jerry Pindus, CEO of U.S. Energy Group. "This event will help owners and managers understand how to make their buildings more efficient, and also how to afford the costs associated with acquiring the necessary equipment to increase efficiency."
The event included an opportunity for industry leaders and property owners to network in a cocktail reception at the conclusion of the seminar. The event was free and open to property owners and managing agents in the New York Metropolitan area. Visit www.use-group.com to learn more about US Energy Group.
