New York City
Donnelly Mechanical Corp.'s vice president of energy services, Tom Krol, moderated a discussion forum at the Local Law 85 and Local Law 87 Comply & Conquer Conference, an event presented by ASHRAE-NY, BOMA/NY, BCxA Northeast Chapter, Local 94, NYSERDA and ConEdison, on September 25th at the Con Edison Auditorium.
The event was sold out and attendees gained a brief introductory knowledge of Local Law 85 and Local Law 87, their provisions and implications, and learned about the financial incentives, scheduling strategies and cost-efficient options for bringing large buildings into compliance with the legislation. Krol led a discussion that focused on the energy audits, retro-commissioning and the 10 year "Energy Efficiency Reports" required by Local Law 87 for buildings 50,000 square feet or larger in New York City, using real data from over a dozen case studies.
Saving Energy and Costs for New York City
Krol was joined by Joe Szabo of Tishman Speyer, Dan Pugliese of Hines, Richie Kromar of Boston Properties, Mark Miller of SBS and Charlie Marino of AKF Engineers. The forum revealed many solutions to obtaining Local Law 87 compliance that are both cost-efficient and sustainable, many of which are services offered by Donnelly Mechanical. John Lee, deputy director for Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency was in attendance and claimed that the presentation was aligned with the city's efforts to demonstrate the improvements and savings associated with compliance.
